On the occasion of International Museum Day, every year on or around May 18, 87 museums and cultural institutions from 19 districts of Moldova open their doors for all visitors. Events and activities planned to celebrate the Night of Museums in Moldova can last a day, a weekend or a week. Each museum announces a program full of creative workshops, open courses on the theme of preservation, enhancement and promotion of cultural heritage, theatrical performances, songs, poems, exhibitions of paintings, film screenings, competitions, folk craft fairs to highlight the importance of the work of museum and cultural institutions in the life of the community. Among the best known museums participating in this event are the National Museum of History, the National Museum of Art, the National Museum of Ethnography and Natural History and the Manuc Bey Historical and Architectural Complex.
Exhibitions of weapons and military equipment, retro bikes and motorcycles, concerts of classical music, jazz and rock. All of this will take place during the Night of Museums in Moldova, May 18, the date on which the country’s museums will be open to visitors.
The Night of Museums program will start at 6:00 pm and end at 2:00 am in dozens of museums across the country.
