On 28 June, an informational trip was organised in the central region of Moldova, covering the districts of Ungheni and Strășeni. More than 40 tourism professionals – including travel agencies and guides – took part. The main objective was to promote the tourist destinations of this region, with a focus on nature, rural, wine-related, and religious tourism.

The first stop on the tour was the town of Ungheni, regarded as the “western gateway” to Moldova and an important customs point on the south-eastern border. Participants visited the Tourist Information Centre and took a walking tour of the main attractions: Grigore Vieru Square, Independence Square, Dvoïnia Square, the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, Chestnut Tree Avenue, the Palace of Culture, as well as the railway bridge and Ungheni train station.

The tour continued in the village of Juzuleni Noi, at the “Poemul Plopilor” guesthouse — a fine example of traditional Moldovan hospitality.

Visitors were able to experience:

  • rustic accommodation,
  • authentic local cuisine,
  • and a warm, friendly atmosphere.

The owner welcomed guests with homemade wine and a carefully decorated table, true to the region’s traditions.

Nature and Relaxation at the “Plaiul Fagului” Reserve

The visit then extended to the renowned “Plaiul Fagului” scientific reserve, a protected area. A well-maintained trail allows visitors to stroll among beech trees and discover rare plants such as ferns, the “Venus slipper” orchid, and purple geraniums.

Visitors can:

  • observe wild boar and deer,
  • taste local honey,
  • take part in apitherapy sessions,or simply relax on the terrace overlooking the forest and lakes.

Spirituality at the Condrița Monastery

Next, the participants visited the Condrița Monastery, dedicated to Saint Nicholas. Situated on the edge of the Codrii forest near Chișinău, this site exudes peace and history. They toured:

  • the main church,
  • the monastic complex buildings,
  • and listened to the story of this sacred place.

The visit concluded with a tour and wine tasting at Château Cojușna, located in the village of Cojușna, Strășeni district. The Winery was established in 1908 as a French grapevine cultivation workshop and was converted into a cellar in 1964. Today, it produces more than ten varieties of wines and spirits, including the renowned brands “Dumbrava din Cojușna” and “Cojușna.” During the visit, participants explored the cellars, tasting rooms, the estate museum, and the specialised shop, while enjoying a unique experience from the castle tower offering panoramic views of the surrounding area.
