«Gagauz Şarap Yortusu» is an introduction to the culture of the Gagauz people
Festival of wine «Gagauz Şarap Yortusu» is an important event in the cultural life of Gagauzia, held on the first Sunday of the last month of autumn. This celebration originated as a tribute to ancestors and gratitude for the abundant grape harvest.
The festival takes place in the capital of the autonomous region is the city of Comrat. In 2025, «Gagauz Şarap Yortusu» will be held on 9 November at 10:00 AM in the main square of the municipality. The event brings together winemakers, artisans, and visitors eager to discover the rich culture of the region and its authentic atmosphere.
Festival Program
The «Gagauz Şarap Yortusu» 2025 Wine Festival offers tastings of the finest wines from southern Moldova, workshops led by renowned winemakers, and an introduction to traditional dishes as delicious meat and cheese specialties, flatbreads, and sweet treats. Concerts, dance performances, and a local craft fair create a vibrant and festive atmosphere in the heart of Comrat.


Symbol of the Festival
The main symbol of «Gagauz Şarap Yortusu» is the “Gagauz chotra” a carved wooden wine vessel shaped like a flask. Every year, local winemakers showcase their products here at the region’s premier wine event.
