Condrita Monastery (Mănăstirea Condrița)
The Saint Nicholas Monastery of Condrita, located in the picturesque village of the same name, was founded in 1783 by Monk Joseph from the Căpriana Monastery.
The first stone church of the complex, the Church of St. Nicholas, was built in 1820 and remains the spiritual heart of the monastery to this day.
The monastery lies about 35 km from Chisinau, amid the gentle hills and dense forests of central Moldova. This peaceful and serene place attracts pilgrims and travelers seeking spiritual inspiration and harmony with nature.
Commemorative Coin "Condrita Monastery"
In recognition of the historical and spiritual importance of this sacred site, the National Bank of Moldova issued, on December 25, 2000, a silver commemorative coin as part of the series “Monasteries of Moldova”.
The obverse features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Moldova, the year of issue, and the inscription “REPUBLICA MOLDOVA”.
The reverse presents a relief depiction of the Condrita Monastery, surrounded by natural landscape elements, with the inscription “MĂNĂSTIREA CONDRIȚA”.
